Artist Highlight

I came across this video a while ago through the Goldfish Keepers forum. This artist, Riusuke Fukahori, just blows me away.
Here is a link that has more images of his work: designboom

Favorite Poem

I have a lot of favorite poems. I memorized a bunch many years ago and impressed people at times when I was able to recite one to fit the circumstances. I've been thinking of this one often lately. My mom recited it to me once when I was young and feeling sorry for myself. Thanks Mom for giving me the gift of poetry (and the idea of memorizing a few so I could be impressive once in a while - lol).

I am Nobody! Who are You?
by Emily Dickinson

 I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us--don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

A Favorite Quote

Late Summer Flowers

Around the yard, we have some bursts of color. Most of these are a little faded and past their prime, but beautiful none the less. These flowers are: Clematis, Black-Eyed Susan, Hollyhock, Sedum (yet to bloom),  Dianthus, Coreopsis, Rose, Petunia,  and Zinnia.

The Back Garden

Here is my back yard:

We recently pulled a large hedge out that ran along the sidewalk, and also got rid of an 8X8 shed that would have blocked that giant hosta from this angle. The plan is to have the short picket fence with some colorful plantings in front and some kind of pergola behind for a nice shady place to sit. I'd like to keep the hosta and a couple of the plants near it, and put in a couple of raised vegetable beds to the right in this picture. The weirdness I referred to in the last post is that there is an easement at the back end of our property for our neighbors to use as a driveway plus about half the space of the yard is black top. I'd really like to get rid of it but still haven"t come up with a good idea of how to handle it if I do. Something to think about I guess :)
